Namun 3 minggu kemudian luka di lutut itu makin menghitam. Akhirnya Rachael memutuskan menekan luka putranya itu dengan tujuan membersihkan dan mengeluarkan kotoran serta darah di dalamnya. Namun ternyata malah seekor siput meloncat keluar dari luka itu dalam keadaan hidup-hidup.

"Siput itu terlihat seperti batu, warnanya hitam dan aku mengambilnya dengan tisu," tutur Rachel. "Benda lalu itu berputar dan bergerak-gerak, ternyata itu adalah siput laut dan aku tertawa melihatnya."

Ayah Paul, Ken, menduga putranya terjatuh di atas batu yang terdapat sarang siput. Tanpa diketahui sebuah telur siput masuk ke dalam luka di lutut Paul saat jatuh hingga berkembang di dalamnya. Kini siput tersebut dipelihara dalam akuarium dan diberi nama Turbo.
