Kisah ini diriwayatkan oleh Anas bin Malik r. a.

Disuatu pagi Rasulullah SAW berbarengan dengan sahabatnya Anas bin Malik r. a. lihat satu keanehan. Bagaimana tak, matahari tampak demikian redup serta kurang bersinar seperti umumnya.

Tak lama kemudian Rasulullah SAW dihampiri oleh Malaikat Jibril.
Lalu Rasulullah SAW ajukan pertanyaan pada Malaikat Jibril : Wahai Jibril, kenapa Matahari pagi ini terbit dalam kondisi redup? Walau sebenarnya tak mendung?

Ya Rasulullah, Matahari ini terlihat redup lantaran sangat banyak sayap beberapa malaikat yang menghalanginya. jawab Malaikat Jibril.

Rasulullah SAW ajukan pertanyaan lagi : Wahai Jibril, berapakah jumlah Malaikat yang menghambat mataharisekarang ini? Ya

Rasulullah, 70 ribu Malaikat. jawab Malaikat Jibril.

Rasulullah SAW ajukan pertanyaan lagi : Apa kiranya yang jadikan Malaikat menutupi Matahari? Lalu Malaikat Jibril menjawab : Ketahuilah wahai Rasulullah, sebenarnya Allah SWT sudah mengutus 70 ribu Malaikat supaya membacakan shalawat pada satu diantara umatmu. 

Siapakah dia, wahai Jibril? bertanya Rasulullah SAW.

Dialah Muawiyah!!! jawab Malaikat Jibril.

Rasulullah SAW ajukan pertanyaan lagi : Apa yang sudah dikerjakan oleh Muawiyah hingga waktu ia wafat memperoleh kemuliaan yang begitu mengagumkan ini? 

Malaikat Jibril menjawab : Ketahuilah wahai Rasulullah, sebenarnya Muawiyah itu semasa hidupnya banyak membaca Surat Al-Ikhlas di saat malam, siang, pagi, saat duduk, saat jalan, saat berdiri, bahkan juga dalam tiap-tiap kondisi senantiasa membaca Surat Al-Ikhlas. 

Malaikat Jibril meneruskan penuturannya : Dari tersebut Allah SWT mengutus sejumlah 70 ribu malaikat untuk membacakan shalawat pada umatmu yang bernama Muawiyah itu.

Wala ilaha illallah..
Wallahu akbar.
